Mary Ames Mitchell was born and raised in Pasadena, California, where most of this story takes place. She majored in Art History at Wheaton College in Massachusetts, then obtained a teaching credential from USC’s Graduate School of Education. After five years of teaching elementary school in the Pasadena and Menlo Park Unified School Districts, Mary took a break to have two children.
Mary returned to school at age thirty-four to obtain her BFA in Graphics and Packaging from Pasadena’s Art Center College of Design. Since then she has been a graphic artist and designs packaging and marketing materials for Fortune 500 companies.
Mary lives in San Rafael, California, with her Welsh Corgi, Annie. Her daughter is now a fashion designer in New York City (www.AmyClaire.com) and her son is a financial analyst in San Francisco.
Mary’s creative writing was previously limited to the lyrical poems she wrote for birthdays and special occasions for friends and relations. The process of writing this first book took twelve years to complete.
